Description

A nursing student employed for the purpose of giving patient care under the direction and supervision of an assigned registered nurse.

Required Qualifications:

+ Coursework/Training:
Current enrollment in and satisfactory completion of at least one academic term (quarter or semester) of a nursing program approved by the Washington State Nursing Commission and a nationally accredited nursing program such as Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The academic term must have included a clinical component. BSN program preferred.

+ Nursing program education and practice in the scope of care for the patient population on the unit of hire (i.e. pediatrics, med/surg, OB, etc.) The nursing technician will provide SMC written documentation by their nursing program of the specific nursing functions/tasks they are able to perform.

+ Continued enrollment in a Washington State Nursing Commission approved nursing program and a nationally accredited nursing program such as Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This enrollment must be maintained throughout employment as a Nursing Technician. This enrollment includes periods of scheduled vacation and holiday time. Official enrollment does not include any of the following: leave of absence from a nursing program;

withdrawal (temporary or permanent) from a nursing program; enrollment in prerequisite course study or courses offered through the department of nursing or allied health programs with no current official enrollment into an approved nursing program; and students awaiting re-enrollment into a nursing program.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
