Security OfficerThe Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, staff, and property of Swedish Medical Center. Due to the continuous public contact, the highest level of customer service skills is essential. Security Officers conduct random patrols, respond to and investigate incidents, report safety hazards, and document actions. They respond to alarms and codes, provide traffic control, assist with safe patient handling, conduct routine safety walks, and submit remedial requests.
Security Officers may need to use physical force, run, climb stairs, carry people or perform other physical actions in emergent situations. They advise clinical staff on patient release and restraint, provide directions and customer service, write reports and logs, monitor security cameras, access control systems, and may work across multiple campuses.
– Required Qualifications
- Within 90 days of hire:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association - Within 6 months (180 days) of hire:
Successful completion of TASER training and certification (annual re-certification) - Within 6 months (180 days) of hire:
Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) training and certification - Customer service experience and/or training
– Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree
- 1 year of related civilian or military security/law‑enforcement experience
- Healthcare security experience
Security Officer – Salary Range (Edmonds, WA):
Min $21.08, Max $35.89

Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) training and certification - 3 years of related civilian or military security/law‑enforcement experience, including at least 2 years in healthcare security
- Customer service experience and Hospital Incident Command System training
– Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or AA or equivalent
- Upon request: FEMA ICS 100.HCB, ICS 200.HCA, and 700.A certification
Senior Security Officer – Salary Range (Edmonds, WA):
Min $22.58, Max $38.39
