Position: Project Manager, Nutrition (Prairies)

Dairy Farmers of Canada is the national policy, lobbying and promotional organization representing Canadian dairy producers. DFC strives to create stable conditions for the dairy sector in our country. It also seeks to maintain policies that promote the sustainability of Canadian dairy production and promote dairy products and their health benefits.
We are currently seeking a Project Manager, Nutrition to join our team based in Manitoba, Alberta, or Saskatchewan. The position may be hybrid or remote, depending on the successful candidate’s proximity to a DFC office.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Nutrition Program, the incumbent participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of various nutrition education programs, resources, and initiatives, as well as special projects, in collaboration with internal staff, agencies, and outside collaborators. The incumbent also facilitates workshops and acts as a DFC representative at various events.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Project Management
  • Manage all aspects of planning, development, implementation, evaluation, research, and budget of designated nutrition programs, materials, and resources, in collaboration with DFC staff, agencies, partners, and/ou consultants;
  • Manage external agency staff and consultants in relation to specific project work;
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of nutrition education websites, as required;
  • Assist in research planning needs for the assigned sector;
  • Participate in the deployment of e-news and social media communication activities in collaboration with other internal stakeholders and in support of the overall digital strategy as required;
  • Participate in the development of content for digital nutrition communications;
  • Conduct surveys/evaluations of programs and resources, possibly in collaboration with provincial nutrition teams and/or agencies; and
  • Maintain complete and accurate files on all projects.
2. Workshop facilitation & Exhibits
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate nutrition education workshops (occasionally in collaboration with other stakeholders), including educational resource stock management and delivery; and
  • Explore exhibit opportunities, coordinate logistics, and represent DFC at various exhibits (conferences, committees, and in partnerships) as required. Prepare reports and communicate back to the team as required.
3. Information officer
  • Respond to inquiries from DFC staff, educators, and consumers related to nutrition and school health education issues;
  • Identify gaps in current stakeholder needs and research and develop content for various educational, and consumer publications and websites;
  • Support relationships with key stakeholders to ensure understanding of curriculum directions and build awareness of DFC programs and expertise;
  • Assist other potential partners and stakeholders, and identify opportunities for joint projects and/or new programs;
4. Other
  • Participate in the development of the nutrition department’s annual plan and budget;
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Nutrition Program and colleagues, as required;
  • Complete general office duties, including expense and status reports, management and maintenance of office filing system when appropriate, as well as filing on SharePoint; and
  • Mentorship of students enrolled in dietetic internship and masters level programs, as required;
  • Complete other related duties, as assigned.
Professional Skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written. Bilingual (French and English) would be considered an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of the internal organization as well as with key external stakeholders.
