Sr. Safety Advisor
Alta Steel is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Safety Advisor to join our Risk Management team. In this role, you will provide expert health and safety guidance to operational teams while supporting the development and continuous improvement of safety programs and initiatives across the organization.
The Senior Safety Advisor works closely with plant operations and frontline leadership to promote a culture of safety, ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, and support effective risk management practices. This role is ideal for a safety professional who enjoys collaborating with operational teams, influencing positive safety behaviors, and contributing to the overall safety performance of the organization.
Responsibilities
Provide health and safety advisory support to frontline supervisors and operational teamsPromote and reinforce safe work practices and compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable legislationMentor and support leadership and work teams in building safety awareness and leadership capabilityAssist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs and initiativesConduct workplace hazard assessments and risk evaluationsParticipate in incident investigations, including identifying root causes and recommending corrective actionsProvide guidance on the use of risk management and hazard identification toolsDeliver safety training and awareness programs as requiredMonitor workplace practices and provide recommendations to improve safety performanceSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to safety performance and risk managementMaintain current knowledge of safety practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards through professional development and participation in industry networksQualifications & Skills
Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and SafetyCRSP or working towards achieving their CRST/CRSP considered an assetUp to 10 years experience in a Health and Safety field related roleExceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essentialOutstanding relationship building capabilities and a collaborative working styleA strong team player with superior organizational and project management skillsStrong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm and ability to excel in a flexible, fast paced environmentTaking initiative and having a passion for positive resultsExcellent knowledge base of provincial OH&S legislationJob Details
