Our Edmonton team is looking to add a Junior Buyer (1 year contract) to our West Edmonton Yard. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this role will focus on preparing purchase orders, shipping, receiving, order, and return assembling of inventories located both in our warehouse and outside yard.
Primary Responsibilities:- Support to Purchasing Manger in the procurement process, including the preparation of purchase orders and vendor contracts.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance and maintaining supplier databases.
- Process purchase orders and ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods.
- Track and report order status and resolve any issues related to delivery or quality.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Communicate with suppliers to negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and terms of agreements.
- Address any supplier issues or concerns in a timely manner.
- Confirm orders from sales while reviewing inventory demands and current stock levels.
- Ensure quality of procured items and addresses problems when they arise.
- 2-3 years’ experience as a purchasing assistant or lead shipper / receiver.
- Available to work Monday through Friday 8AM – 4PM with overtime opportunities during peak seasonal activity.
- This position works out of our West Edmonton Yard and is not camp based or remote.
- Public transit access is not available at the work location.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Construction materials. Plumbing, electrical etc
