YONA Teaching Artist

This part-time role runs from September 2026 to June 2027, catering to youth in Northern Alberta's priority neighborhoods. As a Teaching Artist, you will provide instrumental instruction for groups up to 20 students. Your creativity and expertise will inspire a love for music while fostering inclusivity and community ties at Alexander First Nation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide instrumental music instruction weekly to students
• Lead rehearsals and concerts throughout the year
• Supervise students during breaks and academic support
• Collaborate with YONA team members across various sites
• Advocate for trauma-informed practices in program culture
Requirements:
• Advanced training in percussion
• Experience teaching music to children
• Post-secondary education in music preferred
• Strong communication skills with diverse families
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
