Overview
The Manager – Income Tax will oversee all aspects of corporate income tax planning, compliance, and reporting, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. This role will lead tax initiatives, provide strategic guidance on business decisions, and support audits while mentoring and developing the tax team.
Responsibilities- Lead corporate income tax planning strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and risk management.
- Oversee preparation, review, and filing of all corporate income tax returns and associated schedules.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax legislation, including monitoring legislative changes and implementing appropriate processes.
- Support and manage tax audits, responding to government and external auditor inquiries, and resolving audit findings efficiently.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and external advisors on complex transactions, tax planning, and reporting matters.
- Provide guidance on the tax implications of business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax processes, controls, and reporting tools, leveraging technology where possible.
- Lead, coach, and develop tax team members to enhance skills and ensure effective delivery of tax functions.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or corporate tax roles.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian income tax legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing corporate tax audits, tax planning, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an asset.
- Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax courses or a Master of Taxation is a plus.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
The Manager – Income Tax plays a critical role in ensuring the organization’s tax compliance, optimizing tax strategy, and supporting business growth initiatives. This position provides key guidance to senior leadership and contributes to effective financial management and risk mitigation.
