Role
The Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial Services and Senior Financial Officer (ADM SFO) plays a critical leadership role in ensuring financial accountability across the Department of Transportation and Economic Corridors. This position is responsible for overseeing the department’s financial governance framework and coordinating the delivery of financial services to the department.
As the department’s senior financial advisor, you will provide strategic guidance to the Minister, Deputy Minister, executive leadership, and program areas on financial planning, strategy, execution and accountability across a range of complex business environments. You will lead all fiscal management activities, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and government-wide objectives.
This role requires a visionary leader who can foster a culture of financial stewardship and collaboration. You will champion a shared vision of financial governance and strategy, while delivering high-quality financial advice and information to support key government decision-making bodies, particularly Treasury Board and Finance. In addition to providing leadership for core fiscal management activities, including multi‑year financial planning, budget oversight, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls, you will provide strategic advice, performance monitoring and risk oversight to support capital project delivery.
Qualifications
Your background includes significant related executive leadership experience with strengths in financial management and fiscal activities within a large, public-sector organization. As the ideal candidate, you bring experience leading integrated capital and infrastructure planning, including multi-year investment strategies. Expertise in ministry-wide capital planning, program management, and alignment to strategic and fiscal priorities and experience establishing governance, oversight, and reporting frameworks for large-scale capital programs would be an asset.
