We're on the hunt for a dynamic Assistant Beverage & Food Manager to champion our passionate team at the Renaissance. If you thrive in a vibrant, fast-paced environment and are ready to take on a permanent, full-time role, managing both the hippest bar and restaurant in Edmonton as well as our extensive banquet operations, we want to meet you!

Nestled in the heart of the Edmonton International Airport, HALO Bistro|Bar stands as the pinnacle of trendy, upscale dining. With a menu that balances classic favorites and local specialties, HALO offers more than just a meal—it promises a culinary adventure underscored by urban flair and contemporary taste. As the Assistant B&F Manager, you'll oversee our bustling 200-seat space, collaborating with the B&F Manager to ensure flawless customer service and exceptional cuisine that turns first-time visitors into regulars.

Beyond HALO, you'll also play a key role in managing our expansive 20,000 sq ft of banquet space, orchestrating memorable events that perfectly blend service with setting.

Your job duties include:

• Plan, organize, direct and control the work of employees and supervisors in the B&F Department while ensuring exceptional service and attention to guests.
• Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline employees and supervisors in Food & Beverage operation (HALO Bar|Bistro, In Room Dining, Club Lounge), and to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met.
• Control labour and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory control while focusing on creative revenue generation solutions to maximize profit.
• The ability to be visible in the operation, recognize and maintain relationships with regular guests as well as cultivate relationships with new patrons.
• Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met as well as attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
• Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• Assist with service in all Food & Beverage outlets.
• Assist with set-up and cleaning of operational areas.
• Manages all banquet facilities, staff, and delegates assignments according to business demands
• Knowledge of banquet and event service operations
• Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect department
• Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing); fluent in English
• Effective conflict management skills
• Schedules banquet service staff to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits
• Projects supply needs for the department, (e.g., china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, props).
• Manages departmental inventories and maintains equipment
• Applies knowledge of all laws, as they relate to an event. Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, or related major; 3-5 years of experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
• A comprehensive understanding of financial management, operational logistics, and event planning.
• Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills, with proficiency in English.
• A proactive approach to managing supplies and equipment, ensuring every detail is perfect for each event.
