Join Alberta Environment and Protected Areas as the Director, Land and Environmental Planning – North, where you’ll lead transformative planning initiatives that balance environmental, economic, and social priorities across Alberta’s northern regions.
Success in this role requires collaborative leadership and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Director builds strong relationships across the ministry, other departments, and key stakeholders, to advance complex initiatives. By championing continuous improvement and mentoring staff, the Director strengthens organizational capacity and ensures processes are efficient, transparent, and responsive to changing priorities.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of subregional integrated resource management plans.Build and guide multi-disciplinary planning teams across ministries and stakeholder groups.Facilitate meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities, municipalities, industry, and environmental organizations.Champion cumulative effects management and integrated planning principles as outlined in Alberta’s Integrated Resource Management System (IRMS).Oversee transition of strategic plans into operational frameworks with measurable outcomes.Represent Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and the Government of Alberta on intergovernmental committees and taskforces.Identify policy gaps and legislative opportunities to enhance planning effectiveness.
