Environmental Services Manager

The City of Melville is seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Services Manager to join the Public Works & Planning Department.

• Managing landfill and recycling operations
• Sewage lagoon treatment systems
• Environmental monitoring
• Hazardous lands
• Reservoir maintenance
• Weed and pest control
• Bylaw enforcement contracts
• Supporting municipal water distribution
• Water waste collection
• Stormwater utilities in collaboration with Public Works Manager
• Providing leadership to staff, overseeing contracts and tenders, managing budgets, developing operational plans, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety legislation, responding to public inquiries, assisting with long-term infrastructure planning, preparing reports, supporting Council initiatives, and working collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and City departments.

• Strong leadership, communication, budgeting, and project management skills
• Knowledge of municipal public works, environmental regulations, waste management, and infrastructure operations
• Experience supervising staff, administering contracts, and responding to operational and public concerns
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, knowledge of applicable provincial and federal legislation

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced municipal environment, manage multiple priorities, and participate in standby or on-call duties as required.
