Director of Water Sustainability

Lead Alberta's water and waste initiatives as the Executive Director of Water and Waste Sustainability, based in Edmonton. This full-time role encompasses policy development, stakeholder engagement, and environmental enhancement.

Alberta Environment and Parks is seeking an Executive Director to spearhead efforts in water quality protection and innovative waste management solutions. Reporting directly to the Assistant Deputy Minister, this role demands extensive senior management experience and a robust understanding of natural resource management. Emphasizing critical thinking and strategic collaboration, you will navigate complex issues while focusing on water and waste sustainability across the province.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee water quality and waste management policies

• Lead initiatives on recycling, composting, and extended producer responsibility

• Collaborate with stakeholders for innovative resource management solutions

• Certify operators for drinking water and wastewater systems

• Formulate legislative processes for environmental regulations

Requirements:

• Extensive senior management experience in natural resource management

• Proven success in policy formulation and complex issue management

• Strong critical thinking and negotiating skills

• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
