The Bishop of Edmonton invites applications for the full time position of Rector of St. Augustine’s of Canterbury in Edmonton, Alberta
A Community of Faith – living out God’s call to being a community where all people, across the full diversity of humanity, can lead, serve, and flourish.
St. A’s is a family-sized community church in East Edmonton. We rest in the Anglican tradition, celebrate the tension of diverse gifts within community, and take our presence in the neighbourhood seriously. We are interconnected. We are multicultural – hosting Kinyemulengue and Malayalam services. We are Jesus people. We are space to heal, grow, pray, and discern a life in wholeness.
This is lived through:
- Sunday Worship – Anglican theology and a diversity of experience
- A Rewilding project for our parish lands – environmental justice
- Sacred Wanderings – mindfulness
- Simple Suppers – food ministry
- Childrens’ Church and Youth Group
- Ignatian spirituality and retreats
- Gathering Around the Kitchen Table and Wednesday Night Sharing Circle – times of learning and growth
What we are looking for in a priest:
Faith Development through Theology and Teaching:- Sermons that nudge us toward deeper biblical understanding. A lived faith of prayer and encouraging the gifts of others.
- Connecting to people, and fostering connections between others.
- St. Augustine’s is already connected with local churches and local community groups, we are looking for a priest who shares this passion and helps keep us inspired and focused on our outward facing mission.
- We come from a variety of backgrounds and church situations. Having a willingness to listen, an openness to diverse opinions, and a healthy approach to conflict will be required. Experience working with a variety of ages and cultural backgrounds is beneficial.
- With an active group of lay volunteers, being able to delegate and supervise, while communicating clearly, is essential.
St. Augustine’s of Canterbury is open to applications by Anglican priests from across Canada, or equivalent members of our full communion partners.
