Energy Crane Service is seeking an experienced
Crawler Crane Supervisor
to oversee crawler crane assembly, disassembly, and operational support across our fleet.
This role is responsible for leading field crews during crawler crane builds and tear-downs, ensuring lifts and crane configurations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer procedures and industry standards.
The position is
based out of Stony Plain, Alberta
, and requires travel to project sites throughout Western Canada and occasionally remote project locations.
Crawler Crane Assembly & Disassembly
- Supervise and lead crews during crawler crane assembly and disassembly operations.
- Ensure crane configurations are completed according to OEM procedures and engineered lift plans.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with crane configuration, ground conditions, boom assembly, and lifting components.
Rigging & Lift Operations Support
- Support lift planning activities including rigging selection, sling angles, and load chart verification.
- Conduct pre-lift meetings and ensure proper communication and signaling procedures are followed.
- Provide technical guidance to operators and rigging crews during complex lifts.
- Provide supervision and instruction to operators, apprentices, and riggers.
- Ensure crews follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.
- Support skill development and competency growth across the crane team.
Equipment Coordination & Logistics
- Coordinate transportation of crane components, counterweights, mats, and rigging equipment.
- Work with dispatch and operations teams to ensure equipment is properly mobilized and configured for project requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all crane operations comply with applicable provincial regulations and manufacturer procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- 10+ years experience working with crawler cranes preferred
(will consider candidates with strong demonstrated experience) - Extensive experience supervising
lattice boom crawler crane assemblies and disassemblies - Experience with crawler crane manufacturers such as
Liebherr, Demag, Kobelco, and Terex - Strong knowledge of rigging practices, lift planning, and load chart interpretation
- Class 1 Driver’s License considered an asset
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills
