Overview
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Redwater Complex is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Journeyman Instrumentation Technician. This role is critical in supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our facilities through the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
Responsibilities- Support Pembina’s safety culture of “Zero by Choice,” adhere to Life Saving Rules, and demonstrate Pembina’s values in all work performed;
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial instrumentation and control systems in a safe and reliable manner;
- Perform testing, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation devices (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, and level) and associated control systems;
- Utilize diagnostic and configuration tools (e.g., HART, PDM, or equivalent) to support instrumentation performance and reliability;
- Support the safe operation of live facilities by coordinating work with operations, including managing system impacts where required;
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, contractors, and vendors to resolve equipment issues and support reliable plant performance;
- Act as a technical resource and mentor, supporting development through coaching, feedback, and knowledge sharing;
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance reliability, efficiency, and maintenance practices;
- Demonstrate learning agility by adapting to evolving technologies, systems, and processes in a dynamic operating environment;
- Participate in on‑call rotation and support broader site and trade activities as required.
- Journeyperson Instrumentation certification, Instrument Technologist, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Strong understanding of the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation and control systems;
- Proficiency with analog and digital communication systems used in instrumentation;
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, engineering standards, drawings, and schematics (including electrical, pneumatic, and P&IDs);
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, accountability, and continuous improvement, aligned with Pembina’s values;
- Demonstrated learning agility and adaptability in dynamic operating environments;
- Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills;
- Experience with SAP or other Plant Maintenance Management (PMM) systems is considered an asset;
- Familiarity with industrial equipment and systems (e.g., fired heaters, flare systems, control valves) is considered an asset;
- Ability to support on‑call rotations and work outside regular shifts as required;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre‑Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
