Begin your technical journey with the City of Edmonton as an Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician. Learn essential skills in a respectful, service-oriented environment focused on vehicle maintenance and repairs.
This position is open to ATU 569 members looking to advance in the heavy equipment field. You will be exposed to comprehensive training aligned with NAIT standards, preparing you for a Truck & Transport Journeyperson certificate. Mentorship from experienced professionals will empower your ability to diagnose and repair fleet vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in inspections and repairs alongside Journey persons
• Independently perform tasks as you learn
• Input detailed information into fleet management systems
• Troubleshoot issues within the bus fleet
• Communicate efficiently with shop personnel
Requirements:
• 12th grade completion with exam success
• Enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program
• Two years’ vehicle maintenance experience
• Hold a valid Alberta Class 3 driver's license
• Lift up to 75 pounds as needed
