Lead Carpenter​/Journeyman

Position Overview

Boyd Construction Inc is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Carpenter / Journeyman Carpenter to join our growing team. This position is responsible for leading residential renovation projects from start to finish while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship, safety, organization, and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will have strong carpentry skills, experience managing renovation projects and subcontractors, and the ability to communicate effectively with homeowners, suppliers, and company management. This role requires a hands‑on leader who can work independently, solve problems on‑site, and ensure projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

• Lead and manage residential renovation projects on‑site.
• Coordinate daily activities of crew members, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project scopes.
• Perform all aspects of carpentry including framing, finishing, trim work, cabinetry installation, doors, windows, and general renovations.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site.
• Communicate project progress, challenges, and scheduling updates to the owner.
• Identify and resolve construction issues while maintaining quality standards.
• Conduct material take‑offs and assist with project planning and logistics.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to apprentices and junior carpenters.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with clients throughout the renovation process.

• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and renovation practices.
• Proven ability to lead projects and crews independently.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Proficient English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to provide explicit project updates and reports to the owner.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable vehicle and ability to travel to various job sites.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Journeyman Carpenter Certificate.
• Minimum 5 years of residential renovation and carpentry experience.
• Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors.
• First Aid Certification.
• Experience with project scheduling and site coordination.
