Powerline Technician

Join Valard Construction as a Powerline Technician based in Edmonton or Northern Alberta. This role involves maintaining and repairing electrical distribution systems, ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks.

As a Powerline Technician, you will report to the Operations Lead and be integral to the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground power lines. Key skills include troubleshooting, splicing cables, and safely operating high-voltage equipment. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and supervise emergency restoration efforts as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and maintain overhead and underground power cables

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems

• Operate specialized tools like cable pulling rigs

• Conduct high-voltage equipment switching and grounding

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards

Requirements:

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certification

• Experience in power distribution systems

• Strong knowledge of electrical theory and safety procedures

• Proficient with splicing and testing equipment

• Valid driver’s license and on-call availability
