Location: Nisku

Leduc County is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator tojoin our team. Reporting to the Area Foreman, this exciting opportunity primarily operates Snowplow equipment to support the maintenance ofcounty roads and municipal infrastructure during the Winter season. The Heavy Equipment Operator is a key contributor to the achievement of the department’soperational deliverables.

What you will do
  • Operates heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with snowplow and wing attachments, graders, excavators, andfront-end loaders, performing various road maintenance functions in thesummer and snow and ice removal in the winter months.
  • Services and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Logs hours and complies with the Traffic Safety Act.
  • Hauls and unloads various types of materials, gravel, earth, asphalt, water, and road equipment in designated areas for maintenance and construction as required.
  • Adheres to guidelines as set out in Leduc County’s policies and administrative directives.
  • Accountable for working in compliance withthe Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Codeand participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.
  • Performs related duties as required.
What you need to succeed Must-have
  • A high school diploma and a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Three years of trucking experience or tandem axle plow/sand truck orother heavy equipment operation.
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with County operations and knowledge of rural communities.

We offer a competitive annual salary of between $31.61 and $39.50.

The opportunity is seasonal full-time and is 40 hours per week scheduled primarily during day and afternoon shifts, with some extended hours to meet operational requirements.
