Solid Waste Manager

Position: Solid Waste Manager at Yellowhead County
Lead waste management initiatives with Yellowhead County as the Solid Waste Manager. Oversee regional operations, focusing on landfill management, waste collection, and recycling programs across Alberta.

This full-time position reports to the General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning Services. The role requires expertise in solid waste program management, including a focus on overseeing the County’s transfer stations and the West Yellowhead Regional Waste Management Authority (WYRWMA). Essential skills include project coordination, policy development, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct operations of the WYRWMA and support board initiatives

• Manage budgets and prepare annual financial reports

• Oversee landfill operations in compliance with regulations

• Coordinate waste collection and recycling services

• Foster community relations and address public inquiries

Requirements:

• Class 2 Landfill operation certification in Alberta

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field

• Minimum five years of management experience in waste management

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and Defensive Driving completion

• Strong communication and organizational skills
