What You Will Do

  • Provides operational support for the University Archives and Special Collections and Interlibrary Loan services.
  • Processes and maintains archival materials, creates and manages digital finding aids, and facilitates access to collections.
  • The position also performs borrowing and lending activities through multiple resource-sharing systems, ensures accurate and policy-compliant fulfillment of requests, offers reference assistance, and supports the training and work of student employees.
  • Routinely lift and carry heavy boxes related to archival work.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER High school diploma or equivalent. Any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories: work experience in a library or equivalent setting. college course work in any field as measured by the following conversion table 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Skill in corresponding and communicating effectively with and working well with a diverse staff, user population, and internal and external contacts A thorough understanding of established procedures in library operations and record systems, including the use of standard bibliographic references and online databases. Excellent attention to detail; ability to learn new skills and technologies. Ability to follow established archival practices and standards for handling, arranging, and describing materials.
