Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for the position of Extra Help - Art Camp Teachers (EH26-067).

What

You Will Do
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities based on the weekly art camp theme.
  • Provide hands‑on instruction and support for campers of various ages.
  • Foster a fun and educational environment for all participants.
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of campers throughout the duration of the camp.
  • Collaborate with the other camp staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized art space.

Non‑Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • Has completed or is working towards a bachelor's degree in art education, art studio, or in a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience teaching, instructing, or facilitating groups of children.
  • Shows communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

About Extra Help Positions

Extra Help job listings typically close three days after the opening date, unless specified in the closing date. Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked.

Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements. Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.

Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30‑calendar‑day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900‑hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register.

There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.

Illinois Residency Requirement

Out‑of‑state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois . Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
