Instructional Coach
The Instructional Coach's primary focus will be to support student learning and teacher practice. The Instructional Coach will plan and deliver timely and relevant professional development for teachers and other staff members at the elementary level across the district. Coaches will provide support through planning, modeling, co-teaching, training, and data analysis across all content areas.
Under direction of the Curriculum Department:
- Assist teachers in using data to assess student learning, align to standards, differentiate instruction, and provide rigorous, relevant and engaging learning experiences for all students.
- Conduct observations and provide coaching, modeling, and feedback on the implementation of instruction that meets district-wide expectations.
- Introduce teachers to new materials, instructional strategies, and technology integration methods that are proven to increase student achievement based on best practices for instruction.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with district-level instructional supervisors to evaluate, select, and implement professional development experiences.
- In collaboration with school administrators, identify needs of first year and other non-tenured staff, and deliver appropriate coaching, training, and resources to support professional growth.
- Evaluate results of professional learning programs to determine the effectiveness on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning.
- Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in current and emerging best practices, such as through off-site school visits, workshops, and conferences.
- Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools, and teacher collaboration for continuous improvement.
- Willingness to assume leadership positions, adapt to ever-changing needs and provide organized individual and/or group support
- Assist in planning, implementing, and facilitating workshops for institutes, in-services, and summer training.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree preferred
- Valid Illinois professional educator license (PEL)
- Minimum of 5 years successful experience as a classroom teacher
- Superior work habits and ethics– self motivated
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Excellent working relationship with administration, faculty, and students
- Expertise in use of email, Microsoft Office, videoconferencing, LMS (Schoology), and E-School (TAC)
- Evidence of professional growth, lifelong learning, and participation in a wide range of professional development activities.
