What You Will Do

  • Serves as the University's professional resource and subject matter expert for the evaluation, articulation, interpretation, and application of transfer credit for undergraduate, graduate, professional, military-affiliated, prior learning, domestic, and international students.
  • Independently evaluates complex academic credentials and educational experiences to determine transfer-credit equivalencies, applicability toward degree requirements, academic standing, and official academic record designation.
  • Exercises independent professional judgment in interpreting University policies, accreditation standards, articulation practices, and transfer-credit guidelines when evaluating domestic and international coursework, graduate-level credit, military training, and other non-traditional learning experiences.
  • This role requires independent resolution of transfer-credit applicability and academic record determinations in situations where established precedent or guidance may be limited or unavailable.
  • Conducts complex analysis of educational systems, institutional recognition and accreditation, grading methodologies, degree structures, curriculum content, and credential documentation.
  • Provides authoritative guidance to students, faculty, administrators, academic departments, Athletics, and external institutions regarding transfer-credit policies, articulation practices, degree requirements, academic regulations, and transfer-credit applicability.
  • Supports student enrollment, retention, degree progression, graduation eligibility, NCAA eligibility certification, compliance obligations, institutional reporting, and academic record integrity through accurate transfer-credit determinations, policy interpretation, and articulation decisions.
  • Ensures compliance with University policies, accreditation standards, FERPA regulations, Illinois Articulation Initiative requirements, and national best practices in transfer-credit evaluation and academic record management.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:

A. course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) 60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months)

B. work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience. Preferred Qualifications Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution or a combination of education and experience totaling five years of related student records analysis work, records management work, or collegiate admissions/registrar work. Advanced knowledge of domestic and international educational systems, credential evaluation methodologies, transfer-credit articulation practices, curriculum interpretation, accreditation standards, academic records management, and University policies governing these functions.

Ability to independently analyze complex academic credentials, determine equivalencies where established precedent may not exist, interpret policy, resolve exceptions, and communicate decisions to diverse constituencies. Knowledge of FERPA, IAI, degree requirements, transfer-credit best practices, and student information systems.
