Solutions Engineer - NAIC

Overview

Solutions Engineer - NAIC2 at World Wide Technology. This role performs intake, solution validation and forecast evaluation for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project. The engineer will have direct contact with customers and vendors and will assist with pre-sales onboarding, quote validation, and delivering solutions before transitioning to execution operations.

• Interface with Customers, PMs, and CSEs to identify and provide inputs and technical guidance to ensure design optimization.
• Engage with pre-sales teams to provide technical guidance on lab capabilities to ensure more accurate project intake and gauge of technical level of effort.
• Develop and communicate technical project design to project engineer to ensure successful execution of technical solutions per specifications and/or configuration instructions utilizing both industry and WWT best practices.
• Drive global collaboration and program standardization.
• Work closely with project teams during the execution of ETOs (Engineer to Order), providing SME-level expertise.
• Drive the project’s progress from kick-off to final approval.
• Provide consulting and support for the configuration of multiple vendor networking, wireless, and collaboration devices.
• Communicate project status to both internal and external stakeholders on a continuous basis.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex troubleshooting of defective devices, logical issues, or systematic errors on a wide range of technologies.
• Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfers, and mentorship to peers.
• Review and provide SME-level expertise throughout customer ETOs.

• Education Qualifications — Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field preferred; a combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Work Experience — 5+ years of progressive experience in a related field; 2+ years direct work experience in the Project Engineering capacity; 3+ years hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networks; CCNA or CCNP strongly preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities — Diagnoses problems, plans and executes resolutions; demonstrates planning and resource management; develops technical reference documentation; communicates clearly; serves in a player-coach role; leverages product knowledge and market data; designs engineering drawings (rack elevations, cable run lists); knowledge of structured cabling standards; familiarity with data center electrical requirements; familiarity with CUCM, VMware vSphere, Windows Server, ESXi, Redhat, LINUX and UNIX;
  
  hardware familiarity (HP/Cisco) and networking concepts; ability to prioritize in high-pressure environments; process management, decision making, and learning on the fly; and note about customer onboarding requirements and background checks as applicable.
