- Under administrative direction of the Associate Director of ITS, Academic and Client Support Services, Client Relations and Support, this position provides direct support for computer solutions to customer service needs, including the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, and related technologies. This includes providing hardware, software, and networking support and training across offices, classrooms, labs, and collaboration spaces to ensure reliable and effective use of technology for faculty, staff, and students.
- This position also works as part of the team that refreshes leased computers on campus during the lease cycle.
- The position maintains ownership of assigned service requests within a designated support area, ensuring issues are progressed to resolution while coordinating with and seeking guidance from senior technical staff as needed within established procedures.
- This position participates as part of the ITS Client Relations and Support team in a structured support model that includes periodic assignment to structured remote support activities, performing troubleshooting within scope using remote support tools to resolve service requests and improve service responsiveness.
- The position contributes to a customer‑focused service environment by delivering timely and effective solutions while maintaining awareness of approved technologies, including AI‑assisted tools, and applying them appropriately in alignment with university policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the following categories:
A. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
Associates Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
Bachelors Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
AND
Years can be concurrent.
1) 1+ years installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software;
2) 1+ years demonstrable knowledge of scripting languages OR programming, and programming theory and practice;
3) 1+ years troubleshooting computer networking technology, servers, services, and related protocols such as TCP/IP, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11;
4) 1+ years installing, maintaining, administering, and trouble shooting multiple operating system platforms such as DOS, MS-Windows, Apple Mac OS, iOS, Android, UNIX, etc.;
5) 1+ years large scale imaging experience;
6) 1+ years maintaining systems in an Active Directory environment;
Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois . Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.
