Role OverviewLeads the Value Added Service (VAS) shipping department, ensuring safety, productivity, quality, and on‑time shipments. Manages workflow, staffing, training, and performance evaluations while coordinating with operations to achieve daily KPIs.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate safety, activities, production, and workforce for maximum productivity.
- Meet or exceed daily VAS shipping volume goals.
- Plan and layout VAS staging areas, considering product data, turnover, and space requirements.
- Address labeling, non‑routine shipping instructions, and truck loading positions.
- Ensure employees attend orientation, safety training, and equipment certification classes.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations in partnership with the Sr. Operations Manager.
- Review shipments for quality, accuracy, and completeness; study bills of lading and customer orders to set priorities.
- Lead weekly meetings to discuss shipping goals, schedules, policy changes, equipment maintenance, and safety issues.
- Establish shift schedules for peak periods and slowdowns.
- Train and advise staff on goods handling, storage, picking, packing, and shipping procedures.
- Report discrepancies in ordering, quantity, or quality to management.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a medium to large distribution center or manufacturing operation.
- 1 to 2 years in a leadership or similar role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience with WMS or similar supply chain software.
- Understanding of automated and manual operations in a distribution environment.
- Strong analytical, positive, people‑oriented, and team‑player skills.
Salary range: $27.74 – $32.26 per hour (US – IN Midwest Distribution Center). Compensation will be determined by location and additional factors such as skill, experience, and education.
