Responsible for the year‑round maintenance of county highways.
Responsibilities- Plow snow on county highway system.
- Mow grass along county highways.
- Install and maintain culvert pipes.
- Oil and chip county highways.
- Work on ditches and drainage projects.
- Haul dirt and rock.
- Trim trees and spray vegetation.
- Stripe roadways.
- Operate Highway Department equipment.
- Work on Highway Department equipment.
- Flag traffic.
- Manage day‑to‑day tasks assigned by Supervisors.
- Subject to random drug testing as a CDL requirement.
A high school diploma or equivalent, one (1) year related experience, a valid driver’s license for pre‑employment, and obtain (within 90 days of employment start) and maintain a Class “A” CDL are required.
Physical RequirementsStand for extended periods of time. Walk or move on even or uneven, loose and/or sloped terrain possibly for extended periods of time. Safely climb steps, ladders or slopes while carrying up to 40 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. Quickly see, hear and respond to hazards. Work in extreme weather.
Wear PPE correctly most of the day. Get into and out of heavy construction equipment and operate said equipment safely.
