Versatech is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Effingham, IL. This full-time, on-site role is focused on the electrical design and support of custom industrial automation systems.
The Electrical Engineer will create electrical schematics, support control panel design, select components and work closely with mechanical engineering, controls, panel build and machine assembly teams to bring systems from design through build and testing.

Electrical Engineers at Versatech support new machine builds from schematic design through panel layout, wiring, power‑up, testing and startup. The work changes from project to project and stays closely connected to the automation equipment being built.
Responsibilities- Create electrical schematics and control panel layouts
- Select electrical components, including sensors, drives, safety devices, control hardware and power distribution components
- Apply electrical codes, safety standards and customer requirements
- Support panel fabrication, machine wiring, power‑up and testing
- Troubleshoot electrical issues during build, debug and startup
- Coordinate with mechanical and controls teams during system integration
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related technical field
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles and industrial electrical systems
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics, panel layouts and technical drawings
- Knowledge of power distribution, control circuits, safety circuits and industrial components
- Experience with automation equipment, custom machinery, panels or industrial wiring preferred
- Familiarity with PLC‑based controls, robotics, VFDs, servo systems or industrial networks is a plus
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work hands‑on around equipment during build and testing
Strong communication and collaboration skills
- This position is full‑time and on‑site at Versatech in Effingham, Illinois. Limited travel may be required for installation or startup support.
