Resident Technician - (Engineering Tech III)
This position is accountable for the layout, inspection and documentation of minor to intermediate construction projects or assisting the Resident Engineer on other construction projects. Essential functions include administering and directing the operation of an assigned construction project, providing pertinent and timely information about assigned construction project and its operations, providing timely completion and quality work on a construction project with prompt submittal of final papers, resolving differing viewpoints arising from construction activities or public complaints, performing duties in compliance with departmental safety rules, performing all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees, and performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS thirty months of engineering experience; OR six years of engineering experience. Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of math to include algebra and trigonometry, working knowledge of reading design plans and specifications, strong organizational skills, and strong communication skills.
Conditions of employment include requiring a valid driver's license, requiring district wide travel, requiring occasional overtime, requiring successful completion of a background check, and certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
