Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift – Effingham

Job Summary
:
The Krusteaz Company is looking for a Maintenance Technician who will support production by bringing equipment to base condition through a variety of Industrial Maintenance functions. The role requires electrical, mechanical, and PLC aptitudes.

Essential Functions
  • Supporting production by bringing equipment to base condition through a variety of Industrial Maintenance functions.
  • Interpreting blueprints, fabricating metal, performing plumbing, pneumatic, and millwright activities and displaying an understanding of motors and drives.
  • Collaborating with production staff to enhance the reliability of production equipment, and completing repair tasks in a manner that minimizes reactive downtime.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting, operating computerized systems, maintenance software and hand‑held devices, attending meetings and completing paperwork.
Technical Duties
  • Use a PC for communication, parts research, and maintenance system purposes including purchasing parts as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical, electrical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Follow specific maintenance procedures concerning PMs, schedules, and documentation requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and represent The Krusteaz Company to outside contacts in a professional manner.
  • Climb ladders and lift, push, pull using proper techniques up to 60 pounds.
  • Work in areas with limited space and restricted mobility.
  • Work at elevated heights (up to 45 feet) safely while operating a scissor lift or articulating boom lifts.
  • Confront issues by focusing on solutions that satisfy both internal and external customers.
  • Must pass mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge test.
Position Requirements

Must be able to communicate in English with team members and supervisors through various channels, including radio, email, and in‑person interactions.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Food manufacturing experience is desired and a plus.
  • Exposure to PLC, SLC 500/PLC5/RS Logics/Device Net preferred.
  • Exposure to AC and DC motors, VFD and VSD drive experience preferred.
  • Relevant trade or technical school training preferred.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Requires close vision for computer work. May be moderately noisy, confined, and require sitting at a computer for extended periods.

  • Lifting:
    Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly.
  • Standing and Walking:
    Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the entire shift.
  • Bending and Stooping:
    Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to clean equipment and facility areas.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Must have good manual dexterity to handle and operate cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Climbing:
    Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed.
  • Pushing and Pulling:
    Must be able to push and pull heavy equipment and carts.

Wage and Hours Information
  • $31.44 per hour + $1.25 shift differential.
