Salary Range: $20.00 To $22.00 Hourly

Overview

MIG and TIG welders use metal inert gas (MIG) or tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding to fuse metal parts together and operate tools such as arc welders, grinders, and buffing machines. They are also responsible for selecting and installing torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to the thickness of metal materials.

Responsibilities
  • Welding:
    Core skill for TIG welders. Knowledge of equipment, processes, materials, gases; practical proficiency in welding thin 20 gauge stainless steel. A 20 gauge weld test is required to pass during the interview.
  • Reading blueprints and schematics:
    Interpret blueprints and schematics accurately; minimal supervision.
  • Math skills:
    Calculate dimensions based on blueprints and take measurements of materials.
  • Hand-eye coordination:
    Welding requires stamina and precise hand-eye coordination to control heat and timing.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Inspect products, identify errors, analyze root cause, and formulate solutions.
Education & Training

Welding Certificate Preferred

Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work with the following tools:
    • Measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, clamps)
    • Metalworking tools (grinders, buffers, sanders)
    • Technical documents (blueprints, bills of material, technique sheets)
    • MIG/TIG welding equipment (tungsten electrodes, filler metal rods, torch holders)
    • Metals (stainless steel, aluminum, black iron)
  • 2+ years of MIG/TIG welding experience
  • Solid background working with sheet metal
  • Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
  • Ability to distinguish material types including galvanized and stainless steel
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong teamwork
  • Ability to work unsupervised while meeting quality requirements
  • Ability to read a tape measure and caliper
  • Ability to read blueprints with knowledge of engineered tolerances
  • Physical ability:
    Stand and walk up to 8 hours per day
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Bending, reaching, turning, twisting, kneeling, holding welding tools
  • Wear welding mask and PPE for extended periods
