RN Pre Post Op

RN Pre/Post Op plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in the Preop/PACU department. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the Center's policies. Makes decisions regarding direct patient-care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, such as serving on committees, participating in quality-improvement audits, and projects.

• Follow employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
• Follow OSHA and other standards for protection against blood-borne pathogens.
• Follow policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards.
• Inform Float or PACU Charge Nurse of applicable day-to-day situations.
• Maintain and demonstrate current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, and other needed clinical competencies.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate pre- and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician's orders.
• Seek anesthesia consult and assistance as needed.

• ACLS—Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 90 days of hire).
• BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire).
• PALS—Pediatric Advanced Life Support (within 1 year of hire).
• RN—Registered Nurse, licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Estimated compensation range: $32.10 - $49.76 per hour. Pay based on experience. Hours vary.
