Store Manager
Reports To: District Manager
The Store Manager leads the day-to-day operations of a single KAY Jewelers store, achieving sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, inventory control, brand representation, and the growth and development of team members.
Responsibilities- Communicate performance expectations and ensure all team members understand their impact on company success.
- Coach and develop store staff to consistently represent the brand and execute store visuals and marketing.
- Lead a people‑first store environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, and exceptional customer experience.
- Ensure team members deliver an outstanding customer experience through training, outreach, and clear expectations.
- Attain sales projections and quotas, developing strategies to maximize personal and team sales potential.
- Observe operations to identify successes and opportunities for improvement, then coach staff to address and correct issues.
- Analyze reports to identify trends, opportunities, and resources, developing plans to address operational challenges.
- Maintain knowledge of marketing, merchandising, and payment programs of competitors, advising management on merchandise needs.
- Work closely with local Signet Store Managers to foster communication, collaboration, and shared objectives.
- Maintain a positive, professional work environment where all team members can bring their full selves to work.
- Respond promptly to management directives, merchandise transfers, inventory requests, and customer requests.
- Ensure store cleanliness and adherence to company policies and practices while maximizing profit margins.
- Schedule and balance opening/closing shifts to meet operational needs, train and develop the team, and accommodate peak periods.
- Education: Minimum of 2 years of college (preferred).
- Retail
Experience:
At least 3 years of retail sales experience or 2 years of retail sales plus a minimum of 1 year of retail management experience. Preference for specialty retail or jewelry experience. - DCA Certification: Preference for Diamond Council of America (DCA) certified candidates.
- Technical/Other
Skills:
Advanced communication (written and verbal), proficiency in MS Office and related business tools, strong interpersonal, presentation, problem‑solving, and conflict‑management skills, ability to use email, social media, video conference, phone, and text. - Organizational
Skills:
Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, delegate, and meet deadlines independently. - Languages: Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Physical Demands: Regular standing, reaching, and moving merchandise; lifting up to 10lb; visual acuity for gemstone quality; standard work week includes weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours. Travel for training and business meetings may be required.
Base pay: $50,000 – $67,800 plus commission on sales. Final pay rate will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
