Position Purpose

This is an entry level driver training role. The driver will learn to and/or gain experience in driving a tractor trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and/or overnight routes to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers. All routes are completed safely in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations. The driver interacts professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, implementing preferred work methods and customer service practices, functioning as a team member within the department and organization, and performing any other duties assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities
  • Complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock-to-Driver Training Program, ensuring all training documentation is maintained.
  • Ride-along with and assist driver trainer during deliveries, following all instructions.
  • Perform safety checks (pre/post-trip inspections) according to DOT regulations and company standards, reporting any issues.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines, reporting hazards immediately.
  • Inspect trailer for proper loading and securing of freight, perform count checks, verify invoices, and complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Deliver orders according to schedule and route, unloading and transporting items to customer storage areas, performing damage control, obtaining signatures, collecting payment, and handling returns.
  • Secure all equipment and freight at all times.
  • Manage trash, equipment, and materials, keeping trailers clear and clean.
  • Complete daily hours-of-service record in compliance with Federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping in the tractor, loading dock area, and other necessary duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL Class

    A.
  • Minimum age 21.
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test.
  • Pass road test.
  • Current DOT Health Card.
  • Ability to hand-lift and operate equipment to move or stack product cases/freight ranging 60–90 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in touch freight, delivery, or distribution industry.
