Medical Support Specialist RN - BSN

Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations. Reports to the Plasma Center Manager and assists with donor eligibility, adverse event management, laboratory result review, and donor notifications. Works under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician for medical issues and follows guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and EHS.

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and medical or technical issues regarding donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is needed by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate nursing program with state requirements.
• Current licensure or certification in the state of assignment:
  Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly wage range: $38.72 – $53.24.
