Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operating System Engineer II to join our dynamic technology team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating systems, system administration, and troubleshooting. This role involves maintaining and optimizing our operating systems to ensure high availability and performance.

Qualifications
  • On‑call responsibilities and on‑site responsibilities.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of experience is required).
  • License/Certification:
    Valid driver’s license required; MCSA certification or higher preferred.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 3 years of experience (or 7 years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree). Solid technical background with hands‑on experience, proficiency in VMware for managing virtualized environments, scripting skills (Power Shell, Bash), experience with Active Directory.
  • Citrix:
    • Expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops for delivering virtual applications and desktops.
    • Familiarity with Citrix ADC (formerly Net Scaler) for application delivery and load balancing.
    • Understanding of Citrix Endpoint Management for managing mobile devices and applications.
  • Microsoft 365 (M365):
    • Administration of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
    • Experience with Microsoft Intune for device management and security.
    • Knowledge of Azure Active Directory for identity and access management.
  • Cloud Technologies:
    • Experience with major cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
    • Proficiency in managing cloud services like virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking.
    • Understanding of cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance.
    • Experience with cloud automation tools and frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Formation.
    • Familiarity with cloud monitoring and logging tools to ensure the health and performance of resources.
Performance Expectations
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Unix.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Independently implement new solutions and upgrades with minimal assistance.
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications and operating systems.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, assistance, and training as required.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate and support various applications and services.
  • Exhibit strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adopt an organized approach to work and continuously learn new skills.
  • Adhere to ATLANTiCARE IT standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours support and maintenance.
  • Understand and practice ATLANTiCARE values.
  • Follow ATLANTiCARE and AIT policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment

There is a potential for exposure to hazards and risks within a hospital environment, including infectious diseases, hazardous substances, and potential injuries. The position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, reading, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking for most of the time. Occasional driving and carrying up to 20 lbs. may be required.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to department leadership.
