Senior Buyer I (Temp) Job Description

Senior Buyer Pool is responsible for managing procurement of medical and non‑medical supplies, equipment, and services to meet hospital needs, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining optimal stock levels.
Position Summary
:
This role involves establishing and maintaining positive relationships with vendors and suppliers, evaluating performance on quality, cost, and delivery reliability, negotiating pricing and shipping terms, monitoring inventory levels, collaborating with finance for budgeting, reporting savings, and maintaining compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include:

• Negotiating pricing, shipping terms, and contracts to ensure cost‑effective procurement while complying with hospital purchasing policies.
• Monitoring inventory, reordering supplies, ensuring proper stock rotation, and collaborating with Logistics leadership to minimize waste.
• Aligning procurement activities with budget guidelines, tracking expenditure, and reporting savings and cost reductions.
• Maintaining accurate procurement records, purchase orders, contracts, and invoices.
• Working closely with clinical departments to understand supply needs and identify specialized medical equipment or supplies in partnership with the Supply Chain Clinical Resource team.
• Staying updated on healthcare supply chain trends, identifying process improvements, and resolving order, delivery, and invoice discrepancies.
• Addressing issues related to delayed shipments, product quality, or incorrect orders promptly and professionally.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience equal to 8 years healthcare procurement experience.
• Experience
  :
  At least 2 years experience in procurement, supply chain management, or related field, preferably in a healthcare setting; familiarity with hospital inventory or procurement platforms a plus.
• Knowledge
  :
  Understanding medical supplies, equipment, and regulatory standards; knowledge of supply chain best practices and procurement software systems.
• Skills
  :
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, critical reasoning, and time‑management abilities.
  • Proficiency with procurement software (SAP, Oracle, or other tools).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data for purchasing decisions.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving capabilities.

Professional certifications such as Certified Materials Resource Planner (CMRP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are preferred.

Demonstrate technical competencies, effective communication skills, intermediate to advanced financial calculations, spreadsheet navigation, and strong critical reasoning skills.

Potential exposure to hazards and risks of hospital environment, including infectious disease, hazardous substances, and injury.

Reports to Procurement & Analytics Manager, Surgical Services Procurement and Contract Supervisor, or AVP of Supply Chain.
