DescriptionThe Perioperative Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and family support throughout the three phases of the surgical experience. This position equips and supports physician members of the healthcare team with the necessary equipment, supplies, and assistance to perform surgical and endoscopic procedures.
Responsibilities- Deliver patient-centered care and family support during pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative phases.
- Provide equipment, supplies, and logistical support to physicians during surgical and endoscopic procedures.
- Demonstrate competency on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
- Participate in performance‑improvement initiatives and embrace teamwork and collaboration.
- Adhere to safety protocols and mitigate risks associated with blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous substances.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school;
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred. - Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of New Jersey.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and must achieve proficiency within 30–60 days.
- BLSHCP required; ACLS preferred.
- Certified Nurse of the Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.
- Prior ambulatory or operating room experience preferred.
Performance will be measured against the competencies established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
Work EnvironmentWork occurs in a busy, noisy hospital environment with frequent interruptions. Risks include exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injuries. The role requires standing for extended periods, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and walking short distances quickly.
Reporting RelationshipThis position reports to the Director of Nursing / Clinical Manager.
