Advanced Practice Nurse – Medical Oncology Job Description

The Advanced Practice Nurse provides high quality, cost‑effective patient care that supports established specialty practice objectives and strategic organizational goals. The nurse establishes preventive measures, diagnoses, and treats illnesses and disorders in a competent manner consistent with medical practice and joint protocols established with the collaborating physician. The Advanced Practice Nurse works collaboratively with physician leaders, administration, and staff to improve clinical outcomes, participates in quality improvement efforts organization‑wide, and serves on relevant divisional and departmental committees.

• Provide patient‑centered care, ensuring compassion, respect, and adherence to cost‑effective practices.
• Collaborate with physicians to deliver evidence‑based care and enhance clinical outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer‑review processes.
• Maintain current technical knowledge and pursue educational and professional opportunities.
• Contribute to the organization’s educational programs and teaching activities.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Clinical Applications within 30–60 days of hire.

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school or grandfathered by New Jersey law.
• Current RN licensure in New Jersey, certified by the State Board of Nursing.
• Certification in specialty area required; granted privileges from Atlantic City Medical Center staff.
• NRNNP, C or RNCNS, C registry unencumbered.
• ACLS required in Urgent Care, Atlanti Care Physician Group, and Heart Failure Program; BLS required.
• Minimum two (2) years of RN experience in the specialty within New Jersey.

Demonstrate the ability to perform the department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Potential exposure to hospital hazards, infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood‑borne pathogens, and injury. Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment, and lifting approximately 25–30 lbs frequently. Essential functions are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Collaborates with physicians and reports to the appropriate Administrator; also reports to Nursing or Departmental Leadership.
