The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The Registered Nurse oversees coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care, ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.
- Assessment
: orderly process of identifying, gathering, and organizing subjective and objective data about the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural aspects. - Planning
: organized step that identifies problems and desired outcomes (goals) and documents a plan of care for the patient and interdisciplinary team. - Intervention
: specific interventions or orders implemented in accordance with the plan of care and medical treatment plan. - Evaluation
: step that determines the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care, leading to reassessment and revisions as needed.
Based on assessment and reassessment, the RN will determine that:
- Patients have prioritized problems relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational, and social status.
- Goals are identified to provide direction for patient care and health promotion.
- Education is aligned with identified problems and goals to foster patient empowerment.
Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services, including patient identification and specimen collection, processing, quality control, instrument maintenance, monitoring, recording, and reporting test results to clinicians, and maintaining competency and certification of these tasks.
All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines, and organizational policy.
The Registered Nurse actively supports performance improvement initiatives, provides leadership to other members of the patient care team, and participates in educational activities for continued professional and personal growth.
Qualifications- Education / License
:- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or a current multi‑state license required.
- American Heart Association BLS required upon hire or transfer.
- Experience
:- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and required for this position within 30‑60 days from hire.
- Specialty Experience – Advanced Certification required; certification preferred across numerous specialties (Emergency Room, Trauma Bay, ICU, PCI, etc.) with specific ACLS, ATCN/TNCC, PALS/ENPC, NIHSS and CME requirements as listed in the full job posting.
- Experience in medical/surgical and critical care environments; minimum years vary by specialty as noted in the original posting (e.g., 2 years medical/surgical for clinical units, 3 years for certain high‑acuity services).
- Certification
:- ACLSS required within 6 months of hire or transfer for most units.
- ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months of hire or transfer.
- PALS or ENPC required within 12 months of hire or transfer.
- NIHSS education required within 6 months of hire or transfer for stroke‑related units.
- Additional unit‑specific certifications (e.g., ONS/ONCC(r), OCN, ROCN, FCC, CNOR) as outlined in the posting.
