Registered Nurse Operating Room - Center Orthopedic Surgery - Per Diem

Position Summary

The Perioperative Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and family support throughout the three phases of the surgical experience. This position provides the physician members of the healthcare team with the equipment, supplies and support to perform surgical/endoscopic procedures.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
  Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred.
• License/Certification:
  Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Current BLS/HCSP. ACLS certification recommended. Preferred certifications:
  Certified Perianesthesia Ambulatory Nurse (CPAN), Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPN), Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR).
• Experience:
  
  Prior ambulatory/operating room nursing experience preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with others and adjust to changes within a daily schedule of activities required.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained appropriately and must attain required skill within 30–60 days from hire.

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

Potential for exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, blood-borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position works in a busy, noisy environment with frequent interruptions requiring re-evaluation of priorities. It requires standing for long periods, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and walking short distances quickly.
