As a Perioperative Nurse, you will be an integral part of the surgical team, ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical process. Your role will involve providing patient care and family support across all three phases of surgery, from pre-op to post-anesthesia care. You will work closely with physicians, ensuring they have the necessary equipment and supplies, and contribute to a positive and supportive healthcare environment.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional patient care and family support throughout the surgical experience, including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases.
- Assist physicians with equipment, supplies, and support in the Pre-Op and PACU areas.
- Ensure a high level of customer service, responding to patient and family needs promptly and professionally.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, contributing to the continuous enhancement of patient care and surgical processes.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting effective communication and cooperation among healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment, adhering to infection control protocols and hospital safety guidelines.
- Assist with patient admissions, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient patient flow.
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs and respond to any changes or emergencies promptly.
- Educate patients and families about the surgical process, providing clear and concise information.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to patient care.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
Bachelor's in nursing preferred. - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is required.
- BLS certification is mandatory upon hire or transfer.
- ACLS and PALS certifications are required, as designated by specialty.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
- Prior experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided for incumbents.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment with frequent interruptions.
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and quick walking.
