Job Description
The Advanced Practice Nurse provides high‑quality, cost‑effective patient care that supports established specialty practice objectives and strategic organizational goals. The advanced practice nurse establishes preventive measures, diagnoses and treats illnesses and disorders in a competent manner consistent with medical practice and joint protocols with collaborating physicians. The advanced practice nurse ensures that patient care is delivered in a cost‑effective manner, managing and utilizing resources optimally.
By demonstrating compassion and respect for the individual, the advanced practice nurse provides care that meets the customer’s expectations.
The Advanced Practice Nurse works collaboratively with physician leaders, administration and staff to improve clinical outcomes. This position participates in organization‑wide quality improvement efforts and serves as a member of divisional and departmental committees. The Advanced Practice Nurse maintains current technical knowledge and seeks educational and professional opportunities to enhance clinical practice and competency.
Advanced Practice Nurse participates in educational programs and teaching activities, and takes part in the peer review process to enhance clinical practice.
ResponsibilitiesPerform department‑specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Report to the appropriate Administrator, Nursing or Departmental Leadership, with collaboration from physicians.
QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or grandfathered by NJ law required.
License/Certification: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey and certified by the State Board of Nursing. Certification within the area of specialty required with granted privileges from Atlantic City Medical Center medical staff. NRNNP, C or RNCNS, C registry unencumbered. ACLS required for Urgent Care, Atlanti Care Physician Group, Heart Failure Program, and Cardiology. BLS required. ACLS is not required in Urgent Care settings.
BLSHCP required.
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as an RN in the field of specialty in New Jersey. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained appropriately and skill required within 30‑60 days from date of hire.
Work Environment
Potential exposure to hazards of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood‑borne pathogens, and potential injury. Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment, excessive standing and walking, and lifting approximately 25‑30 lbs frequently.
Reporting RelationshipThis Advanced Practice Nurse collaborates with the physician and reports to the appropriate Administrator. Reports also to Nursing or Departmental Leadership.
