Artic Slope Technical Services Inc (ASTS) is seeking a
Python Software Developer
to join our Remote Monitoring and Logging System ( RMLS ) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

RMLS is the FAA’s logging system for recording maintenance work performed on facilities in the National Airspace System (NAS). RMLS provides a rich database of unstructured text; reading every log file.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to work independently, with minimal supervision, and in a team environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced Python Developer with hands-on experience in Messaging brokers to support RMLS applications. This individual will have/may need:

• Implementing message-driven systems using Python and messaging technologies such as Rabbit
  
  MQ, Kafka, or Active
  
  MQ.
• Asynchronous messaging patterns, and integration frameworks to support scalable and robust enterprise applications.
• Responsible for collaborating with team members in an agile team to resolve technical issues within the RMLS system, as well as document and test solutions.
• Attend/lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings.

All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.

• Be a US Citizen, have a US Green Card, or a Non-immigrant Work Authorization (VISA).
• Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
• The company is unable to sponsor candidates at this time.

Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and twelve (12) years related work experience in a computer science or math field .OR
  • Master’s Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and nine (9) years related work experience in a computer science or math field . OR
  • PhD or Doctorial in a related field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science .

• Python

• Experience in:
  • Message brokers (Rabbit
    
    MQ, Kafka, Active
    
    MQ, etc.)
  • REST APIs, microservices, and asynchronous programming.
• Have strong attention to details and willing to take initiative.
• Ability to:
  • Work independently, as well as on a team.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate defects within a complex software system.
  • Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.

• Experience in:
  • Database development in Oracle/SQL/No
    
    SQL.
  • Java or Go.
  • Monitoring and logging tools related to messaging systems.
  • Working on Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban), using JIRA or similar defect/bug tracking tools.
• Familiar with:
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • CI/CD pipelines and agile development methodologies.

• Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for RMLS.
• Collaborate with agile teams to develop, execute, and maintain software in alignment with FAA requirements.
• Develop, test, and deploy Python applications with a focus on messaging and event-driven architecture. Staying up to date with emerging technologies and best practices.
• Design and implement messaging workflows using brokers like Rabbit
  
  MQ, Apache Kafka, Active
