Job Description:
Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is seeking a Software Engineer to support our FAA weather team. In this role, you will maintain infrastructure stability, integrate new hardware sensors, and optimize database and server performance across our operational environments.
- Code Maintenance & Automation:
Troubleshoot and modify existing code supporting operational infrastructure and develop automation scripts. - Server Optimization:
Install, configure, and troubleshoot various types of servers to support test and evaluation programming scripts. - Database Support:
Manage MariaDB databases (or similar technologies), including executing schema changes and updating table structures. - Sensor Integration:
Develop and modify data communication code for newly onboarded sensors supporting both polled and automatic data transmission methods. - Performance Tuning:
Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues, including network latency, I/O bottlenecks, and resource utilization. - System Diagnostics:
Diagnose and resolve software and Linux-based system issues across the operational environment.
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 6+ years of IT experience (internships included), or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of IT experience. - Programming
Skills:
Proficiency in Python, with some working knowledge of C or C++. - Database & OS Expertise:
Some knowledge of SQL or MySQL to support MariaDB databases, and exposure to Linux-based systems. - Technical Troubleshooting:
Demonstrated ability to resolve network latency, I/O bottlenecks, and server configuration issues. - Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
