This is a full-time, on-site Pipe Fabricator/Welder role based in Maydown. The Pipe Fabricator/Welder is responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to fabricate, fit, and weld pipe systems for mechanical installations. Daily tasks include measuring and cutting pipe, preparing joints, performing welding operations, and assembling systems in accordance with safety codes and quality standards. The role involves collaborating with installers, supervisors, and other trades on job sites, supporting the installation of HVAC, plumbing, and related mechanical systems.
The Pipe Fabricator/Welder also inspects completed work, identifies and corrects defects, maintains tools and equipment, and follows all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated skills in pipe fabrication, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembly of various types of piping materials.
- Proficiency in welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick) with the ability to produce structurally sound and clean welds.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and mechanical schematics, and apply them accurately on site.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing installations, and relevant codes and standards.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of tools and equipment, and adherence to company safety policies.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and other trades.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity, including the ability to work in various site conditions and positions.
- Previous experience as a pipe fabricator and/or welder in a mechanical contracting or construction environment is preferred.
- Relevant trade certification, welding qualification, or apprenticeship completion is an asset.
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage time and tasks to meet project deadlines.
