Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Application Scientist to join our team in Eindhoven. This role blends scientific expertise with customer engagement and technical support, contributing directly to Picarro’s growth across EMEA. You will be based at our Eindhoven office and lab, where you’ll manage day-to-day lab operations and support field activities. The position requires regular travel across Europe and to the United States, with no travel restrictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the Eindhoven lab, including:
    • Independently leading application development projects
    • Conducting product demonstrations in the office
    • Tailoring solutions to real-world applications
    • Ensuring a safe, organised, and productive environment
    • Training customers and partners onsite in Eindhoven
  • Perform product installations, training, and follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Application Science team to develop scientific content (e.g., abstracts, presentations) for conferences and exhibitions.
  • Work closely with Sales colleagues, Support teams, and Product Managers to identify new business opportunities and share customer feedback.
  • Represent Picarro at conferences, trade shows, and customer visits across the EMEA region. Travel requirements may vary—some months may involve up to 50% travel, while others significantly less, depending on business needs.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives, mutual respect, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Geoscience, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD welcome).
  • Several years of experience working with laser optical instruments, isotope ratio mass spectrometry, or trace gas analysers.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English; additional languages (e.g., German, French) are a plus.
    • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, engaging way to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualisation tools.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and contributing to a supportive, inclusive work environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel freely across Europe and to the United States.
