Sheet Metal Mechanic
- El Cajon, CA
- Immediately Hiring

This role focuses on precision sheet metal fabrication, including bending, rolling, shearing, punching, and forming to tight tolerances. You will set up and operate a variety of fabrication equipment autonomously, use precision measurement tools to verify dimensions, and produce high-quality parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication equipment, including press brakes, CNC turret punch presses, punch presses, shears, power rollers, seam welders, and related machinery.
  • Fabricate sheet metal parts by bending, rolling, forming, punching, and welding according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine dimensions, flat patterns, and fabrication requirements.
  • Use precision measuring tools, including calipers, gauges, and height gauges, to verify part quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform machine setups, make adjustments as needed, and maintain quality throughout production runs.
  • Inspect materials, finished parts, and fabrication processes to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
  • Complete basic assembly, deburring, and finishing of sheet metal components.
  • Work safely, maintain an organized work area, and support production needs across departments as required.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication and forming operations.
  • Ability to set up and operate press brakes, CNC turret punch presses, shears, punch presses, rollers, and related fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and height gauges.
  • Experience working to tight dimensional tolerances.
  • Strong troubleshooting, quality inspection, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating CNC press brakes (Amada, Cincinnati, Durma, Wysong, or similar equipment).
  • Experience with roll forming, bump forming, planishing, or seam welding.
  • Familiarity with deburring, assembly, and finishing processes.
  • Experience with repetitive production manufacturing and multiple machine setups.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

You join a production environment that values precision craftsmanship, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The role offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of modern fabrication equipment, develop and refine technical skills, and contribute directly to the creation of high-quality sheet metal assemblies. You can expect a stable schedule, exposure to diverse fabrication processes, and the chance to take ownership of your work by setting up and running equipment independently.

Work Environment

  • The work takes place in a manufacturing and fabrication facility equipped with shear machines, CNC turret punch presses, punch presses, press brakes, power rollers, resistance seam welders, expanders, and related sheet metal tools. Work often involves repetitive production runs, producing batches of approximately 20–30 pieces, with about 2–3 different setups per day depending on production needs. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, requiring regular use of precision measurement tools and close adherence to engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.

You may be assigned tasks both within and outside the sheet metal department based on operational requirements.
