Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented Mill Turn Machinist to join our advanced manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating and programming multi‑axis mill‑turn CNC machines to produce precision components used in RF connectors and other high‑performance applications for defence and aerospace. This position requires expertise in simultaneous milling and turning operations, tool path optimisation, and working with tight tolerances on complex geometries.

Essential

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and program mill‑turn CNC machines (e.g., Nakamura, Doosan, Mazak Integrex, DMG MORI NT/NX series, Okuma Multus) to produce high‑precision parts.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T specifications to ensure compliance with dimensional requirements.
  • Program using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360) or directly at the machine control (Fanuc conversational/G‑code).
  • Perform in‑process and final inspections using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs to ensure quality.
  • Select appropriate tooling and fixturing to support multi‑operation machining in a single setup.
  • Work with a variety of metals and exotic materials, including high‑strength alloys, stainless steel, and other aerospace‑grade materials.
  • Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing staff to refine machining strategies and improve part flow.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and surface finishes, especially on concentric and symmetrical features requiring both milling and turning.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated for optimal performance; troubleshoot machine or program‑related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to quality control standards, including conducting in‑process inspections and maintaining detailed production records.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised, and 6S‑compliant work area.
  • Document setup sheets and tooling lists for repeatability and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts, lean initiatives, and training as needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in CNC machining or programming preferred.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in precision machining, with at least 3 years operating and programming mill‑turn equipment.
  • Strong proficiency in CNC programming (G‑code and conversational) and use of CAD/CAM software for multi‑axis operations.
  • Deep understanding of multi‑axis tool paths, work offsets, sub‑spindles, and live tooling integration.
  • Solid knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to work from complex part prints and solid models.
  • Familiarity with high‑performance materials including stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace‑grade alloys.
  • Skilled in using a variety of precision inspection tools, including CMMs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to optimise cycle times and minimise tool wear.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering defect‑free components.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under…
